Gas-Injected Molding: What is it, and why is it in our outdoor seating?

malibu_textblack

Our new line of Malibu Chairs manufactured with a polypropylene-fiberglass mix feature slender legs and a modern look that seems almost too delicate to handle commercial use. But looks can be deceiving; with the innovative GIM (Gas-Injected Molding) method, manufacturers are able to produce seating that is not only aesthetically original, but also built to last.

The process of injection molding is used widely for plastic products (such as our Resin chairs) because it is easy to produce large, unflawed quantities of a product without a massive amount of labor and parts to put together.

GIM increases the efficiency of injection molding, by inserting nitrogen at key stages of production to create and shape air pockets within the mold, the end result is a sturdier product with more creative possibilities. A shape that was too narrow or too thick before could be injected with ribbing spaces, or simply hollowed at certain points, without affecting the outward appearance. It is this process along with the fiberglass element that gives the Malibu its durability.

GIM allows for using the raw material more efficiently as well as a stronger product in the case of the chair, but the material is the least cost. The high cost is actually due to the cost of the machinery and the cost of the mold. For instance, mold for the chair alone could easily be $30,000 or more. Once enough products are run, and the mold has been amortized, the injection molded product for the factory is high profit. And as a consumer, though these chairs may be priced higher than others in its category, the cost of ownership is much lower in the long-run because of the reliability of GIM technology.

We here at Outdoor Restaurant Seating have taken full advantage of this new method with our new Malibu chair line. The minimalist frame creates a fresh new style for the upcoming spring season. And with a variety of colors from Charcoal to Olive Green, the possibilities for your outdoor dining area are limitless. Check out our selection at the Outdoor Metal Chairs Page!

"Sam Adams Brewing the American Dream"

Outdoor Restaurant Seating works regularly with restaurant and hospitality owners to help them create the ideal dining environment for their establishments. We strive to provide the best product for the best price, because we know that financing any small business can be tough. With that in mind, when we came upon this Sam Adams program, we knew we had to spread the word.

Samuel Adams Brewing the American Dream

Samuel Adams Brewing the American Dream is a philanthropic program that was created by The Boston Beer Company to support small business owners in the food, beverage and hospitality industry by providing accessible financing, as well as business and financial literacy tools and assistance. In partnership with ACCION USA, the country's leading not-for-profit micro-lending organization, the program provides microloans, coaching and access to networks so that hard-working, passionate food & beverage and hospitality business owners can practice their craft, create jobs and help build vibrant communities.

Since its launch in 2008, the program has loaned over $600,000 to more than 80 small business owners in New England, the Lehigh Valley in Pennsylvania, NYC, Ohio, and to craft brewers nationwide in the process creating or saving more than 600 jobs.

The Samuel Adams Brewing the American Dream fund provides much-needed capital that is often out of reach to lower and moderate income small business owners, who otherwise would not be approved for a bank loan. Food, beverage and hospitality small business owners, as well as craft brewers, can apply for loans from $500 to $25,000 to expand or start a business, purchase inventory or equipment, market a business, pay licensing fees, among other things.

NEW Synthetic Teak Table Tops: The Future of Outdoor Seating

In the upcoming sales year, Outdoor Restaurant Seating will be making the switch from Teak outdoor table tops to Synthetic Teak table tops. This may be dismaying to some who assume synthetic means plastic or fake-looking products. We ask you to consider the facts before you truly settle on your opinion.

  1. Real teak, like any real wood, requires extensive and constant maintenance. It gets water stains, sun damage, and wears down much more quickly than manufactured materials like aluminum.
  2. Our new teak tops will have that same appealing natural wood look: most customers will probably never know the difference.
  3. Real teak is much heavier, and cannot be rearranged or stored as well as the synthetics, which may seem like a small issue until you find yourself sweating and toiling just to shift some tables.
  4. Artificial teak may cost more initially, but the cost of ownership in the long run will more than make up for that.
  5. Synthetic teak is splinter and crack-free, as well as weather, water, and UV resistant. It is also immune to rot and insects.

Another great new feature is the powder-coated frame. The new tops have a rim and substructure  on the underside for screwing in the bases. These new pieces are coated to match the finish on our new Del Ray bar stool and chair line, so the wood table blends seamlessly with the metal seating.

The outdoor dining season is almost upon us, so consider replacing your aged wood glorified picnic tables with a surface built to age without aging. Synthetic teak is not just the less expensive alternative, it is the outdoor table top of the future. Any restaurant entering into the busy Spring season will want a few of these to furnish their patio, outdoor bar, or dining deck.

Contemporary Bar Stools For Today's Modern Look

Along with the rise in contemporary bar designs comes the need for modern bar stools that match. While traditional wooden bar stools still have their place, modern stools can be the finishing touch needed to a room that has a contemporary look and feel to it. What do modern bar stools look like? They are elegant, sleek and have fine lines. They are light enough to look classy but sturdy enough to withstand heavy weights. They are a functional and stylish furniture set that can fit into any room's modern decor. Contemporary bar stools can be used in any area of the home whether it be in a kitchen, dining room, recreation room or even outside.

If you have a traditional kitchen you won't want modern stools and if you have a modern kitchen with stainless steel appliances you won't want to settle for plain wooden stools. The bar stools you choose will help define your kitchen and in many cases can pull the whole kitchen design together as one. Today's contemporary bar stools can be made of aluminum, chrome, brushed steel, fiberglass, acrylic or plastic. They may be adjustable in height and you can choose between swivel and non-swivel types. Some have a backrest while others offer an armrest.

With so many different types of stools available, it may be difficult to reach a final decision! If you have a kitchen that you plan on modernizing, don't forget to include upgrading your bar stools as well. Some people forget this step and just end up using the same stools that they have been using for years. This can be a fatal mistake, however, since the stools that you choose can make or break the look you are trying to achieve in your kitchen. If you need outside stools you'll have to look for ones that are weather resistant. There are quite a few modern stools that can withstand the elements. One thing to keep in mind is that metal bar stools may have to be sprayed every year keep them from rusting. This usually only takes a few minutes and may be worth your time and effort if you love the look of metal and need contemporary stools outside. Remember to look for modern bar stools when furnishing a modern room or outdoor patio. There are a lot of options available and you don't have to settle for traditional bar stools any longer.
