Werzalit is a patented manufacturing process created by Werzalit AG & Co. of Germany. The process combines wood, resins and melamine to produce a unique composite that is great to be used in numerous applications such as tabletops, building products and other specialty items. Werzalit applications are designed to endure extreme environments and conditions including heavy moisture, weather and surface abrasion. Additionally, Werzalit is very safe as it does not splinter or shatter like glass and cannot be damaged by ice, snow, or UV. The Melamine used in Werzalit is so hard and non-porous that it is scratch resistant and even resistant to to graffiti, cigarette burns, bird droppings and all types of food stains. To clean Werzalit all you need is a household cleaner and steel wool.

PREVENTING SCRATCHES ON INDOOR RESTAURANT RESIN TABLE TOPS

Commercial resin indoor restaurant table tops are very popular for many restaurants. They're also appealing, comfortable and popular with patrons as well. Although these tops are durable and scratch resistance there are ways that tabletops can be scratched. There are a few preventative measures that managers and the wait staff can take to prevent scratches:

1. Use plates and flatware that have finished bottoms. Some plates, bowls and bread plates have a rough or unfinished edge on the circular bottom on the underside of the dish. This rough edge could scratch the top of the resin tabletop in the hustle and bustle of the wait staff or hungry patrons. Having a finished edge on the underside of all dishes will significantly reduce the probability of a deep scratch on your resin table top.

2. Use a placemat. The majority of scratches that occur on resin tabletops happen underneath the plates of the diner. Using a placemat will protect the tabletop from the clanging of dishes.

3. Between turning tables and cleaning tables be sure to use a soft cloth to remove any unwanted dirt and particles from the table top. This sounds obvious but many times the bus boy or cleaner will rush to bus a table. Taking an extra few seconds to thoroughly wipe down the top this will prevent potential scratches.

If you do happen to get a scratch in your resin on tabletop use a soft cloth, soap and water to wife were both the scratch out. Never used abrasive cleaning chemicals on your resident top.

The commercial grade table tops have a resin epoxy-coated exterior that is water resistant. The tops come in natural, walnut, cherry and mahogany colors. The tables are made to recreate the look of solid wood at a fraction of the cost. They also weigh much less, averaging between 20 and 35 pounds depending on the size, which makes them ideal for restaurants that often push tables together for larger parties or rearrange their dining rooms on a regular basis.

There are numerous shapes, sizes, dimensions and colors on the market for indoor commercial restaurant resin table. Another consideration for the commercial resin table top is the thickness of the table.

The most popular tabletop on the market is 1.25 inches but there's an alternative top with a thickness of 2.25. The difference in the perceived thickness of the top is that the 2.25" table top has a faux edge around the perimeter of the tabletop giving it a thicker look. The actual thickness of the tabletop is the same as the 1.75 inch version. The fake edge around the tabletop does not provide any structural supports or strength to the top. The perceived edge thickness is purely aesthetic. Some feel the elegance of the restaurant. Whichever side you fall on, you have options.
