Commercial resin indoor restaurant table tops are very popular with many restaurants. They’re also appealing, comfortable, and popular with patrons as well. Although these tops are durable and scratch-resistant, there are ways that tabletops can be scratched. There are a few preventative measures that managers and the wait staff can take to prevent scratches.
1. Use plates and flatware that have finished bottoms. Some plates, bowls, and bread plates have a rough or unfinished edge on the underside of the dish. This rough edge could scratch the top of the resin tabletop in the hustle and bustle of the wait staff or hungry patrons. Having a finished edge on the underside of all dishes will significantly reduce the probability of a deep scratch on your resin table top.
2. Use a placemat. The majority of scratches that occur on resin tabletops happen underneath the plates of the diner. Using a placemat will protect the tabletop from the clanging of dishes.
3. Between turning tables and cleaning tables be sure to use a soft cloth to remove any unwanted dirt and particles from the tabletop. This sounds obvious but many times the bus boy or cleaner will rush to bus a table. Taking an extra few seconds to thoroughly wipe down the top will prevent potential scratches.
If you do happen to get a scratch in your resin on the tabletop, use a soft cloth, soap, and water to wash the scratch out. Never use abrasive cleaning chemicals on your resident top.
