Restaurant Bar Height vs. Counter Top, Dining Heights

There are a lot of opinions and questions floating around about the standard height of a bar, and how tall a barstool must be to accommodate them. According to most experts, a standard BAR height is 42", and with that the barstool should have a seat height of about 30".

If your bar has a custom or unusual height, then the rule is to take the height of the bar and subtract 12 inches to get your ideal seat height.

What many customers are unaware of however is the difference between a BAR height and a COUNTER height. The former is applied to restaurants and pubs where an honest-to-goodness beverage distribution station is likely to be found, and the customer is just as likely to be leaning on the bar as sitting at it. The latter, a COUNTER height, is made primarily for residences in kitchens where people want to be able to make food or eat at a distance from the surface of the counter that mimics a dining-table distance between mouth and plate.

Restaurant tables are customarily 30", which would put the ideal seat height for a chair at 18"

When you are shopping for barstools, make sure you know which height category your bar falls under, and look for key phrases like "standard bar" or "countertop" in the product descriptions. Often the style of the stool can be an indicator as to its intended environment. A black vinyl swivel stool is more likely to be found in a commercial bar, whereas a wooden slat-back could furnish any rustic-themed family kitchen in the country.

Need to Know Information about Commercial Restaurant Seating

1. What are the shipping times for different products (ex. chairs versus table tops)?

The best way to consider this is to figure if there is any additional work required for the item before shipping, (ie assembly, finishing, etc.). Our outdoor furniture, as well as table tops, bases, and stack chairs, are all ready to ship and usually go out within 2-3 days. Chairs and stools that require assembly or upholstering generally take 7-10 working days to ship. This would also hold true for most other companies that import.

For indoor furniture from other sources, lead times can be anywhere from 2-3 weeks to 10-12 weeks depending on the factory and product. Usually, the more expensive the item, the longer the lead time because it is almost always made to order.

2. What is the gauge metal used on the chairs and barstools?

We have 18 gauge on our metal chairs, the 2100 series. The wrought iron we stock is 16 gauge and the aluminum items are 1.8 mm.

3. What's the difference between the different metals and metal finishes?

Aluminum is very slow to rust. The cast aluminum from Outdoor Lifestyles is e-coated for rust resistance, then power coated to finish. Wrought iron furniture has a powder -coated finish that is baked on and is very resistant to rusting but if the finish is compromised, the exposed metal will rust.

Indoor metal chairs are, for the most part, steel with a powder coat. This finishing process makes the paint bond to the metal better than standard painting.

4. What outdoor furniture is better for what outdoor elements (hot verses cold)?

Plastic resin furniture can take most weather,  but wind and snow are not conditions in which these chairs should be left out in. Cast aluminum is good anywhere and is heavy enough to stay in place in wind, but the metal may get warm in direct sunlight. Ditto the wrought iron or tubular steel.

Strap or sling furniture is best in pool areas because it allows for the water from wet bathing suits to run off easily and is more comfortable against bare skin. It is also lighter to move around a lot.

If the outdoor dining area is large and the furniture needs to be left out in inclement winter weather, the cast aluminum is the best.

5. What type wood is used for different products and how is it treated and finished?

ORS's chairs are all made of Eastern European beeches and are stained and finished with a urethane finish.

Available in 4'and 6' stretches, these steel fences are powder-coated a smooth charcoal to complement and blend effortlessly with your establishment's decor. The pieces are easily moved and maneuvered to fit whatever unique design you have in mind.

Outdoor_Fencing2 Here is a fence panel attached to the end post, which runs perpendicular to the fence panel. This allows the fence to be sturdy yet be moved around to accommodate guests for any occasion.

Outdoor Restaurant Seating knows that some states and cities have implemented zoning laws that require outdoor dining areas to be enclosed, and we want to help you turn that obligation into a stylish opportunity. Not only does fencing clearly indicate the dimensions of your patio, it also creates a comfortable environment where your diners can enjoy the same secluded atmosphere of a dining room with the added pleasure of fresh air and natural sunlight.

A cafe with sidewalk seating can often feel intrusive to the foot traffic, the tables appearing squeezed and out-of-place. Our fences are slender enough to tactfully surround even the smallest dining area, but solid enough to instill that sense of a clearly defined space.

Perfect for any weather, and always competitively priced, order our fences today and upgrade your outdoor dining area. For more information,  visit us at: www.outdoorrestaurantseating.com.

Electrophorysis (E-coating) better than Powder Coating for Outdoor Wrought Iron Patio Furniture

delray_sidechairblcktpe

E-coating, or electrophoretic coating, is a process used to apply a layer of lacquer or covering to metal products such as automotive parts or, in our case, outdoor furniture.

This type of application involves dipping theproduct into the varnish and electrifying the liquid, which causes a chemicalreaction that attracts the paint to the metal. As a result, the coverage isdistributed evenly and completely, because every bit of surface area is pullingthe substance onto it. This creates an unbroken, sealed coat resistant to rust, weather, and long-term commercial use.

The alternative (or often the partner with) e-coating is the typical powdercoat, which is applied as a dry powder. This is also used as a means of covering a product with something more durable than normal paint, but it tendsto break down when exposed to U.V. rays, and a consistent, even layer is notguaranteed with powder coating because it is sprayed on as opposed to dipped.Generally the thicker the coat applied, the better the result, but if you arelooking for a thin veneer, you could run into trouble with flaking and unevenpatches.

The best method of furniture finish is a layer of e-coating to prevent rust followed by a powder-coat finish. This combination provides the ideal: durability and aesthetic appeal.

Commercial Indoor Resin Table Tops- How are they made?

Our resin table tops are currently our most popular sales item, and that's no fluke. Experienced restaurant owners know what they need in a table. They see the glossy sheen and rich wood grain appearance and recognize the best of both worlds; beauty and durability.

These table tops look good and stand up to intense commercial use, whether it is employed for dining in your restaurant or meeting around in your business's conference room. We offer 4 different colors, Natural, Cherry, Mahogany, and Walnut, to suit any color scheme, as well as round, square, and rectangular shapes in several sizes.

The tables are made to recreate the look of solid wood at a fraction of the cost. They also weigh much less, averaging between 20 and 35 pounds depending on the size, which makes them ideal for restaurants that often push tables together for larger parties or rearrange their dining rooms on a regular basis.

Of course the most important factor is that with the resin coating and the material choices, our tops are low maintenance. They require little upkeep if you use placemats to prevent scratches. If you do manage to chip the surface, some spray furniture wax can be used to restore it.

As fall approaches, a slew of new restaurants are preparing to open their doors for the first time. If you are one of them, you do not want to be the one who opted for chintzy plastic or heavy, labor-intensive real wood furniture. It is entirely possible, and even more practical, to choose the most attractive and sturdiest product on the market; Outdoor Restaurant Seating's Commercial Resin Table Tops Collection.

What is Polypropylene?

Most of our products are made of materials that anyone would be familiar with; aluminum, stainless steel, several varieties of wood, etc. But one word may stand out of the bunch as unfamiliar: Polypropylene. Several of our chairs are advertised with this word in the label, and that may cause uncertainty as to what exactly we are making our furniture out of.

To put it simply, Polypropylene is resin, or polymer mixture that is used most commonly as a plastic in a wide range of products. Developed in the mid-1950’s, Polypropylene is a colorless, opaque material that is completely safe for skin contact, extremely flexible, and very resistant to long-term wear.  These properties combined with a relatively low cost of production make it a popular commodity among manufacturers of commercial furniture.

There are literally hundreds of other uses for this substance; it is employed to make appliances, plastic bags, medical instruments, even clothing.

We here at Outdoor Restaurant Seating do not want to throw around unpronounceable words just to confuse the customer; we want you to know exactly what you are purchasing when you choose to buy from us. Polypropylene is an incredibly reliable material that we use because we know we can depend on it to live up to the high standards we set for our products.
